Harry A. Billington

Harry Atlee Billington, 92, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Billington, the son of the late Mancel William and Lucy (Shipman) Billington, was born June 15, 1923 in Gideon, Mo. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Billington proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, the Korean War as well as the Vietnam Conflict. He retired after 21 years of service. In later years, Mr. Billington worked as an engineer for Channel 15 and owned a paper route. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Other survivors include six children: Kathleen Mary (Rick) Clubb of Greenville, Mo., Linda Ann (Lewis) Smith of Blytheville, Ark., Debora Lee (Jimmy) Rayburn and Harry Billington, Jr. (Donna) of Poplar Bluff, Dr. Eric Joseph Billington of Nashville, Tenn., and Rebecca Lyn Deering of Maryville, Tenn.; a grandson that he helped raise, Tony Greer Billington of Poplar Bluff; 11 additional grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A son, Robert Anthony Billington, and a grandchild, Amelia Baker also preceded him in death.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral serving following at 2 p.m. Deacon David Farris will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
