Helen Evelyn Tibbs, 87, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, June 13, 2011 at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo.
Mrs. Tibbs was born March 3, 1924 in St. Louis, Mo. She was of the Baptist faith, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Tibbs was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her pets and working crossword puzzles.
On Oct. 18, 1974, she married Benjamin Lee Tibbs in Bernie, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Ann Chadwell and husband Lige of Dexter, Mo.; a son, Harold L. Gregory; 4 grandchildren, Sheila Jarrett and husband Danny, Tony Gregory, Shawn Gregory and Julie Gregory; a great-granddaughter, Katie Leann Jarrett; a sister, Dorothy Lawson and husband Leroy of Wenona, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Henry and Mary Magdeline ""Maggie"" Richardson Robison, son, James H. Gregory, sisters, Lucille Brannum and Hazel Hall, and brother, Elmer ""Pink"" Robison also preceded Mrs. Tibbs in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will follow at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
