Herbert E. Hook, 87, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mr. Hook was born April 13, 1922 in Garfield, Kentucky. He was a retired Tool and Die Maker for International Harvester and a member of the Westwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was interested in antique cars and trains.
On May 20, 1975 he married Kathleen ""Kay"" Estrader. She survives.
Surviving are eight daughters, Sheryl Hock and husband Armand of Phoenix, Ariz.; Lyla Staton of Kane, Ill.; Deanna Hoeg and husband Tom of Hampton, Ill.; Jan Knox and husband Tim of Moline, Ill.; Joy Renze and husband Lloyd of Des Moines, Iowa; Mel Knoles of Rock Island, Ill.; Marilee Krier and husband Jerry of Robertsville, Mo.; and Lisa Estrader of Rincon, Georgia; two sons, Vincent Hook of Galesburg, Ill.; and Pete Estrader of St. Louis; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Eddie Lee Schisler; Bettie Phipps; Anna Homer; and Donna Gray; and 5 brothers, Jim Hook and wife Betty; John Hook and wife Bonnie; Robert Hook; Jesse Hook; and David Hook and wife Doris.
Preceding Mr. Hook in death were his parents, James and Carrie Hook; one sister, Bessie Deppe and 3 brothers, Howard Hook, Leonard Hook and Henry Hook.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Steve Proctor officiating and Rev. Jim Osborn assisting. Burial will be in the City Cemetery.
