Herschel Allan Vernon, 57 of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Vernon was born January 25, 1957 at Poplar Bluff to the late Herschel and Anna B. Upton Vernon.
On March 12, 1977 he and Beverly Elayne White were married in Fisk, MO. She survives of the home.
Mr. Vernon was a member of Fisk Presbyterian Church in Fisk, and took over ownership of White Oil Co. in Poplar Bluff from his father in-law, Bud White, and a truck driver for Conway Central Express. He was a member of Poplar Bluff Masonic Lodge #209, Moolah Temple, where he was an Aid Emeritus and Ambassador Emeritus, Three Rivers Shrine, and Hillbilly Clan #140. He enjoyed his family, the river, four wheeling, deer hunting, boy scouts in his younger years and was known to family and friends as a jokester.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children; Herschel A. Vernon II (Michelle), Blair E. Vernon and Levi D. Vernon all of Poplar Bluff, three grandchildren; Alexandra, Jonathan and Addison Vernon; and three sisters, Glenda Gottshall (Larry) of North Canton, OH, Donna Vernon of Poplar Bluff, and Ruthie Thurman (Denny) of Fisk.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Guy and Irene Upton, and Joseph Roland and Ella Lee Graham Vernon, and a brother Joe Vernon.
A Gathering will be held Friday at Fisk Presbyterian Church in Fisk from 12 p.m.until time of Masonic Services beginning at 12:45 p.m. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1p.m. at the church with Reverend Wendy Downing officiating.
