Ila Deneen Witte

Ila Deneen Witte, 90, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2016 at Oakdale Assisted Living Center in Poplar Bluff.

Ila, the daughter of the late Fred and Sweetie Belle Pace Aylor, was born Sept. 24, 1926 in Poplar Bluff. She was a former member of First Christian Church where she sang in a trio and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Ila taught school for a number of years before becoming a full-time wife and mother. She was a people’s person and worked as a saleslady for Avon Beauty Products for 35 years. Ila enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting with all of her customer over the years, singing and cooking.

On May 29, 1947, she married Hardin Otto Witte in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2004.

Survivors include her daughter, Syreda Barwick and her husband Brad of Poplar Bluff; two grandsons, Brian Barwick and his wife Gretchen of St. Louis and Evan Barwick of Kansas City, Mo.; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Barwick; and a brother, Bud Aylor and his wife Joyce of Poplar Bluff.

Ila was also preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Aylor and three sisters, her twin, Athena Jean Aylor, Barbara Maurine Killian and Shirley Lane.

A graveside service and burial will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with the Rev. David Stewart officiating.
