Ilaha Fern Bunn

August 21, 1914 — March 19, 2018

Ilaha Fern Bunn, 103, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at The Manor.

Miss. Bunn, the daughter of the late George Harvey and Dolly (Santas) Bunn was born Aug. 21, 1914 in Juneau County, Wis. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Miss. Bunn worked for General Motors’ AC Spark Plug organization in Oak Creek Wis., which later became known as the Delco Electronics Division. The technology built there was used to guide the Apollo spacecrafts while in earth and lunar orbits, during lunar landings and on return flights. On one of the missions the names of workers involved in the projects was printed on a roll of paper and left in space. Miss. Bunn enjoyed gardening and traveling all over the world. Her prescription for living a long life is simple, “Just get up in the morning and take life as it comes.”

Survivors include her niece, Janis Banks; two great-nieces, Heather Liszewki and Melissa Banks, a great-nephew, Jonathan Banks; and seven great-great- nieces and nephews, Chadrick Joehrs, Jackson Little, Gracelyn Banks, Ryder Banks, Eli Banks, Trenton Reed and Brylee Banks.

Her parents, two brothers, Elvin Bunn and Merlin Bunn and two sisters, Nellie Olson and Leora Hashek preceded her in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11a.m. with Pastor Marty Reed officiating. Burial will take place at the City Cemetery.
