J. C. Burgess

J. C. ""Jay"" Burgess, 60, of Poplar Bluff, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006 at the Manor Care Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Burgess was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Morgan County, Tenn. He was of the Baptist faith and a self-employed auto mechanic. He enjoyed building and racing Mopar and Muscle cars.

On Feb. 3, 2004, he married Brenda Lee Wiley, in Piggott, Ark. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Darlene Johnson, of Dalton, Ga.; a son, Jimmy Burgess, of Dalton, Ga.; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gladys Kirkpatrick, of Poplar Bluff and Helen Feete, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and 3 brothers, Bobby Burgess, Clyde Burgess and Leroy Burgess, all of Poplar Bluff.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Paul White officiating.
