Jack Lee Briggs was called to join his Heavenly Father on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 in Poplar Bluff.

Jack was born Jan. 13, 1940 in Poplar Bluff. He attended Sacred Heart School in Poplar Bluff and graduated in the class of 1957. Jack was a member of South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church. He was a long time member of the American Legion Post 153 and Union Lodge UTUT 30. Jack retired from Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor after 30 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and riding 4-wheelers.

On Sept. 15, 1990 he married Marie Browning in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include 3 daughters: Joy Lynn Ledbetter and Jennifer Jill Briggs Lawrence both of Jefferson City and Deanna Riutcel and husband Kevin of Bland; a son, Marshall Clark of Poplar Bluff; 4 granddaughters: Micha Ledbetter of Labonia, Samantha Andrews and Brittney Andrews of Bland and Shelby Clark of Poplar Bluff; 3 grandsons: Aaron Andrews of Bland and Clayton Clark and Dalton Clark both of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Pat Arrington and husband Sid, of Florissant; mother and father-in-law, A.E. ""Sonny"" and Opal Spencer of Poplar Bluff; 2 sisters-in-law, Erma Suttner and husband David of Detroit, Mich. and Pat Barks Benton of Union; 3 brothers-in-law: Chris Browning and wife Alita, Greg Browning and wife Mimi and Leonard Browning all of Poplar Bluff; several nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends and acquaintances from Salem, Illinois, Texas and Oklahoma.

His mother, Juanita (Cato) Briggs Barks, father, Joseph P. Briggs, stepfather, Robert Elmo Barks, brother, Robert W. Barks and son-in-law David W. Ledbetter preceded Mr. Briggs in death.

Jack had a great outlook on life and a wonderful sense of humor...he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel with the Rev. Keith Luke officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
