Jack Lee Griffith

Jack Lee Griffith, 82, of Wappapello, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 at his childhood home, lovingly surrounded by his family.

Mr. Griffith, son of the late E. Wayne and Veda (Rodery) Griffith, was born April 14, 1933 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Lakeland Assembly Church of God at Wappapello. Mr. Griffith was a former deputy sheriff in St. Louis County as well as the Kansas City area; and had retired as an International Union Representative for Boiler Makers. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, telling stories and was a collector of all things.

On May 3, 1997, Jack and Julie were married in Poplar Bluff. Julie and their son,Jack Wayne survive of the home.

Other survivors include 11 children: Vickie Lee Griffith of Kansas City, Mo., Tracy Lee (Robert) Stephens of Perry, Fla., Brenda Lee (Rich Lee) Nickols of Overland Park, Kans., John Allen Griffith of Kearney Mo., Lisa Nicole Speed also of Kearney, Mo., Jennifer Lee (Derrek) Davis of Austin, TX., Jackie Wayne Lee Griffith of the home, Angie Walker of Loves Park, Ill., Melissa Catherine (Lance D.) Kearby of Poplar Bluff, Sarah Elizabeth (Michael) Nepean of Wappapello and Virgil "Buddy" Ray (Stacey) Burpo of Asherville, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Gretta Sue Nelson of Bernie; a half-sister, Sheree Hall of Malden; a half-brother, Kenneth Hall of Utah; and a wealth of friends.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Wappapello Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lakeland Assembly of God in Wappapello, with Pastor Arvin Haynes officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Shook, Mo.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Griffith family.
