Jack Wayne Morse, 74, of Poplar Bluff died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center after an illness of several months.
Mr. Morse was born Dec. 1, 1936 in Chaonia, Mo. He was a member of New Home General Baptist Church, and was a retired farmer. Mr. Morse had also retired from the Missouri National Guard after 31 years of service as Staff Sergeant and 18 ½ years as a maintenance mechanic. In 1975 he was awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal Award from the Missouri Governor for his courageous action at risk of his own personal safety. Mr. Morse enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, hunting and fishing.
On Sept. 1, 1956, he married Shelby Walker. She survives.
Other survivors include 3 children, Gary Wayne Morse and wife Nancy, Larry Douglas Morse and wife Amy and Donna Jean Buhler and husband Phillip all of Poplar Bluff; 7 grandchildren, Joshua Morse and wife Jamie of Springfield, Mo., Gregory Morse of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Allyson Buhler, Doug Morse, Christopher Morse, Madison Buhler and Holden Morse all of Poplar Bluff.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Chapel with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Butler County.
