Jack G. Smith

Jack Gustav Smith, 84, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was born June 16, 1926 in Bristow, Okla. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff, and had retired as a salesman for Tri-State Electronics. Mr. Smith was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII. He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting and fishing.

On Oct. 5, 1947 he married Irene Robbins in Poplar Bluff. She survives.

Other survivors include 5 children, Theresa M. Cole and William Lee Smith, both of Poplar Bluff, Linda Underwood of Manitowoc, Wisc., Perry Smith of Houston, Tex. and Gary Carl Smith of Pevely, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
