Jackie R. (Doty) Townsend

Jackie Radene Townsend, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Mrs. Townsend, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Spencer Doty, was born Sept. 7, 1927 in Poplar Bluff. She was a founding and charter member of Memorial Baptist Church and was a homemaker. For a number of years she worked in sales at Woolworth's Department Store as well as at other downtown stores. Mrs. Townsend enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking, sewing, making porcelain dolls, camping and fishing.

On Dec. 15, 1955, she was married to Jack Townsend. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1980.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Ray Townsend, Keith Wade Townsend and Kevin Wayne (Lorraine) Townsend; five grandchildren, Stacy Morgan, Kristen Townsend, Kaitlyn Townsend, Colton Townsend and Samantha Eads; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine "Geri" Long and a brother, George Doty all of Poplar Bluff.

Two sisters, Helen Smith and Billie Taylor and a brother, Howard Doty also preceded Mrs. Townsend in death.

The visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dennis Ward will officiate.
