James Eddie ""Jim"" Browning, 83, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Browning was born Aug. 29, 1926 in Taff, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith, and had owned and operated J. E. Browning Auto Salvage in Poplar Bluff for 42 years. Mr. Browning was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Army. He enjoyed playing checkers and solitaire.
Survivors include a sister, Mabel Graham of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Rollie A. Browning and wife Manon and Clifford Browning and wife Jessie ""Penny"" all of Poplar Bluff; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Browning was preceded in death by his parents, James Eddie and Katherine ""Katie"" Browning, sisters, Janivee ""Jan"" Schenewerk, Della Graham and Ila Whitmer and brothers Gilbert ""Slim"" Browning, William ""Bill"" Browning, Woodrow ""Doc"" Browning and Junior Ernest Browning.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Kneir officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
