James Albert Gower, 79, of Doniphan, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at Walnut Street Residential Care Center in Doniphan.
Mr. Gower, son of the late David and Vera Sloat Gower, was born Feb. 21, 1936 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith and had retired as a bridge foreman for Union Pacific Railroad. Mr. Gower proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and fishing.
On May 19, 1956 he was married to the former Helen Haynes. She preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 2010.
Survivors include three children: Cassie Rideout of Fairdealing, James Gower of South Dakota and Jason Gower of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren: Amanda Magill, Samantha Jones, James Rideout and Maykala Gower; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Moore
A great-grandchild, Jacob Jones, two brothers, Jimmy Gower and D.J. Gower and two sister, Rose Stucker and Mary Tibbs also preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
