James William Groves

James William Groves, Jr., 64, of Wappapello, MO, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Groves was born February 26, 1950 in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was a member of Lakeland Assembly of God in Wappapello, and had worked as a heavy equipment operator with local unions 513 and 501. Mr. Groves proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, woodworking, horseback riding and roping, and visiting with his church family.

On November 25, 1986, he married Carla Dildine, in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Other survivors include two sons: Phillip Burton (Kelly), of Piedmont, MO, and Josh Groves (Stephanie) of Youngstown, OH; his mother, Vera Armstrong Groves, of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren: Zach and Rheanna Burton, and Gemma and Briella Groves; and two brothers, Lee Groves and Randy Groves, both of Poplar Bluff.

His father, James (Bill) Groves Sr. preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 6 ? 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Wappapello. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lakeland Assembly of God Church in Wappapello with Pastor Arvin Haynes officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
