James C. ""Boots"" Hammack, 86, of Malden, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff died Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Malden Nursing and Rehab Center in Malden.
Mr. Hammack was born Jan. 5, 1924 in McGee, Mo. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Poplar Bluff, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII in Europe. In 1986 Mr. Hammack retired from Barnes Grocer Co. as an accountant/bookkeeper.
In September 1945 he married Betty Jane Barrow at Greenville, Mo. She preceded him in death on June 26 1997.
Survivors include his son, Barry L. Hammack and wife Vicki of Malden; three grandchildren, Amy Schoemehl and husband Tommy of Malden, James B. Hammack and wife April of Portageville, and Mary Lynn Jones and husband Shad of Scott City; eight great-grandchildren, Parker McCormick, Case McCormick and Piper Schoemehl all of Malden, Haylie Hammack and Kolton Hammack of Portageville and Brittan, Hattie and and Maggie Jones all of Scott City; and a brother, Glen Hammack of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with the Rev. Aulden LeBlanc officiating.
