James "Jim" Weir High

August 14, 1944 — May 26, 2025

Harviell, Missouri

James Weir High Sr, 80, of Harviell, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025. Jim was born on August 14, 1944, to Ben and Vada (Riddle) High in Jackson County, Missouri.

Jim joined the United States Navy as soon as he turned 18. After his time in the service, he worked at Fike Metal Products in Blue Springs, Missouri. Jim later became the founder and owner of High Quality Products in Bates City, Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Jody (Wilson) High. They were joined in marriage on January 30, 1981. Later in life, they relocated to Rock Springs, Wyoming where they founded and owned Asphalt Services for 25 years before returning to Missouri.

Throughout his entire life, Jim always had a love for dirt track racing. As a child, his uncle gave him a dirt bike that he raced around his family’s farm until his mother made him get rid of it due to his daredevil personality. It was too late however, as Jim was already in love with all things fast. He would go on to race sprint cars, dwarf cars and super late models throughout his life.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jody; four kids, Jimmy High Jr. and wife, Brenda of Norborne, MO, Missy (High) Shanahan and husband Tony of Oak Grove, MO, Marcia High of Iowa, and Shaun (Wilson) McCollough and husband Terrell of Fisk, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Jamie, Julie, Jordan, Jenna, Jennifer, Briana, Allie, Payton, Derrick, AJ, Jimmy, Charlie, and Luke; fifteen great-grandchildren; along with several extended family members and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his brother, William "Bill" High and sister, Shirley (High) Fleener.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Missouri State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors present.
