James "Jim" Milbern Mayes, 93, of Covina, CA, passed away Sunday, August 03, 2025, at his home of 60 years.
Jim, son of Delbert and Elizabeth (Mayes) Inman, was born on December 12, 1931, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He married Jane Cravens on July 15, 1954, also in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Jim proudly served as a member of the United States Army. He worked as a construction superintendent in the Los Angeles area for many years before later retiring. Jim was also a member of the Carpenter Union since 1958. He had a love for antique automobiles and loved deep sea fishing.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Jane (Cravens) Mayes; two sons, Randy William Mayes (Terry) and John Edward Mayes (Karen); daughter-in-law, Patty Mayes; six grandchildren, James Joshua Mayes (Drea Krutulis), Daniel Dale Mayes (Jessica), Chad Edward Mayes, Brandon James Mayes, Amanda Marie Azar (Danny Chicas), and Tyler James Mayes; five great-grandchildren, Conner James Aubrey, Rem Fey Aubrey, James Robert Mayes, Fey Evangaline Mayes, and Jackson Rafael Chicas; halfbrother, Jerry Inman (Verna); along with other extended family members and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Linn Mayes and son, Jimmy Dale Mayes.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 11:00am-12:00pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, MO. Funeral will follow beginning at Noon with Pastor Shiela Boyles officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military honors present.
