James "Jim" Patrick Myers, 87, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, surrounded by loved ones in his home.
Jim was born on July 8, 1939, in Eldon, Missouri. He married Patsy (Watson) on April 2, 1961, in Portageville, Missouri.
Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force for 22 years. During this time, he was stationed in Korea, Hawaii, New Mexico, and Alaska. After his time in the military, Jim completed college to become a licensed practical nurse. He later began working for the United States Postal Service and retired in 2003 after 20 years. Jim and Patsy were lifelong members of Highland Drive Church of Christ. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors; from fishing and hunting, to camping and traveling to Alaska in the summer, he loved it all. Jim loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren. His greatest wish was for his family to be happy and healthy.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patsy Myers; three children, Jay (Vicky) Myers, John (Teresa) Myers, and Shannon Myers; eight grandchildren, James Patrick III (Stella), Annie, Luke, Megan (J.C.), Emily, Cassie (Steven), John (Mekynna), and Kaitana; seven great-grandchildren, Xavier, Lexa, Kaiden, Emma, Levi, Ayla, and Scotty; three sisters, Jane (Troy) Frost, Jo Ann (Ron) Cook and Carolyn Jones; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Edward and Opal Vivian (Stark) Dusenberry; two sisters, Lyndia Williams and Sharon Dean; son, Jimmy Myers;
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will begin at Noon with Minister Vernon Curry officiating. Burial will take place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri at 2:00pm with Minister Dustin Wilson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
