James Russell ""Jim"" Magill, 57, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Magill was born Nov. 22, 1952 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a former member of the Missouri National Guard. Mr. Magill worked 25 years for Aramark Uniform Service, and for the past 11 years had owned and operated Magill Trucking and Excavating Co. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing and hunting.
On Sept. 4, 1971 he married Joyce West at Collins Chapel in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons: James Justin Magill and Jeff Magill and wife Brandi all of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren: Jacob and Mekaila Magill of Poplar Bluff; his mother, Virginia (Randall) Magill, of Poplar Bluff; and two sisters, Freda Fox and husband Leon and Connie Nance and husband Kenneth all of Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Magill was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Magill.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel with the Rev. Gene Riddle officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Butler County.
