James Jim Parker Mann

James ""Jim"" Parker Mann, 68, of Fairdealing, Mo. died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Mann was born Oct. 20, 1943 in Poplar Bluff and grew up in the family home in Van Buren, Mo. He was a graduate of Van Buren High School and received his Masters Degree from the University of Missouri. Mr. Mann was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, and was a self-employed Real Estate Appraiser. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam; was a former Trustee of Three Rivers College; and was past President of Missouri Foxtrotting Horse Breed Association. Mr. Mann enjoyed spending time with his family, and as an avid horseman he enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to handle horses and watching his daughter show horses. He took great pleasure in writing and could make the ordinary occurrences of life amusing.

On Aug. 12, 1967, he married Juanita Irons in Boonville, Mo. Mrs. Mann survives of the home.

Other survivors include three children, Anthony Mann and wife Kristi of Greenwood, Ind., Valerie Duncan and husband Aaron of Poplar Bluff and Andrew Mann of Bronx, NY; and four grandchildren, Cori and Tobi Duncan and Mia and Madison Mann.

His parents, Clyde Cotton and Rada (Tinker) Mann and a brother, Bob Mann preceded Mr. Mann in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with Dr. William Vail and Rev. John Gilbert officiating. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 3 p.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
