James Kinslow McKnight, 83, of Poplar Bluff passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Mr. McKnight was born on June 18, 1929, in Poplar Bluff. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School, and later worked for the City of Poplar Bluff in the light and power division, until retiring. Mr. McKnight was ordained as a Deacon at age 23 and served at Memorial Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, where he was an active member. He loved spending time with his children and grandsons.
On December 12, 1948, James married Donna Hastings, in Poplar Bluff, MO. She survives.
Survivors include his children, David McKnight (Brenda) of Poplar Bluff, and Susan Bratt (Ken) of Franklin, TN; grandsons; Kevin and Nick Bratt, and 2 sisters; Mary Lawson (Jerry) of Poplar Bluff, and Betty Griffy (Carroll) of Nixa, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ora Wicker McKnight, birth mother, Dolly Kearbey, grandson, Tyler Pierce McKnight, sister, Helen Kinnamore and brother, Eugene Kearbey.
Visitation will begin Wednesday at 9:30a.m. at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11:00a.m.at the chapel with Rev. Dennis Ward giving the message and Rev. Don Mayo assisting. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Rev. Don Mayo officiating.
