James "Jim" L. Osborn

James "Jim" L. Osborn, 73, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Wilson Creek Nursing and Rehab Center in Springfield, Mo.

Mr. Osborn, the son of the late Jay Lee and Frances Swank Osborn, was born Dec. 31, 1942 in St. Louis, Mo. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School and later attended Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Ark. Mr. Osborn was a member of The Bluff Church and had retired as a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the United Transportation Union Lodge #330 and was a former Operation Lifesaver Instructor. Mr. Osborn previously served as a mentor and had coached baseball and basketball for over 30 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Over the years he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and model trains.

On Aug. 30, 1963, he married Betty R. Porter in Poplar Bluff. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three children, James "Mike" (Julie) Osborn of Ozark, Mo., and twins, Doug (Sonya) Osborn and Donna Osborn Knowlton of Poplar Bluff; and seven grandchildren, Virginia Marberry, Peyton Osborn, James Osborn, Daniel Osborn, David Osborn, Brandon Knowlton and Allison Knowlton.

A sister, Barbara Scott also preceded Mr. Osborn in death.

The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at noon. His son, The Rev. Doug Osborn will officiate. Interment will be at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
