James "Crawford" Price

James "Crawford" Price, of Doniphan, MO, passed away Sunday, May 31, at John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Price was born November 3, 1920 in Prentiss, MS to the late Cassie and Clara Rubbins Price. He was of the Methodist faith. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as part of the Red Arrow Division in New Guinea and the Philippines from October 1943 thru June 1946. On November 4, 1944, he was wounded in Leyte, and stayed in the military hospitals until he was discharged. He was a 1942 graduate of Mississippi State University, attended Notre Dame and received his Masters in Animal Husbandry from the University of Missouri in 1960. His education prepared him for his lifetime work with the University of Missouri Extension Service in Doniphan and Vienna from December 1946 until his retirement on September 1984.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV, and the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, reading, storytelling and was an avid Cardinal fan. After retirement the Ripley County Fair, 4-H and the Boy Scouts of America were all an integral part of his life.

On August 6, 1950, he married Doris Barnett in Steele, MO. She preceded her husband in death on May 26, 2008.

Survivors include his two sons: James Randal Price (Kathy) of Port Charlotte, FL, and Dr. Michael Price (Sandie) of Poplar Bluff and five grandchildren: Steven, Kelsey, Rachel, Sheldon and Taylor Price.

Along with his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers: Hilton Price, Cassie Price, Jr. and Aarron Price; and two sisters: Auba Nell and Francis Price.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. Friday, at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. Interment will follow at Old City Cemetery in Doniphan. Rev. David Huck will be officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul Garven.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Mr. Price's honor to the Ripley County Fair Board, 114 Washington St, Doniphan, MO 63935.
