James Walter Radcliff, 80, of Poplar Bluff died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Radcliff was born May 4, 1928, in Datto, Ark. He was of the Baptist faith, and had retired after 31 years with General Motors, in St. Louis. Mr. Radcliff was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, and fishing.
On May 10, 1988, he was married to Glenna Odetta Atkisson, in Hillsboro, Mo. She preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2002.
Survivors include five children, Vanessa Mathis and Ed Loyd, both of Poplar Bluff, Doug Tinker, of Alexandria, Va., Karen Urch, of Coloma, Mich., and Lester Schuetz, of Alton, Ill.; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary King, of DeSoto, Mo., Hazel Davis, of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Eunice Jean Tyra, of Festus, Mo., and Hilda Law, of Imperial, Mo.; and two brothers, Eddie Radcliff, of St. Louis and Buddy Radcliff, of DeSoto, Mo.
His parents, Walter S. and Bessie Marie (Barks) Radcliff, sister, Marie Davis, and brother, Keith Radcliff also preceded him in death.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with Mr. Gary Whitmer officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
