James Jim O. Richardson

Dr. James O. ""Jim"" Richardson, 67, of Naylor, MO, and well known Poplar Bluff veterinarian, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 in Poplar Bluff.

Dr. Richardson was born Feb. 16, 1945 in Winston-Salem, NC. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Dr. Richardson operated Hillcrest Animal Hospital along with his partner, Dr. Michael Shepard. Dr. Richardson has been practicing medicine at the hospital for 40 years ? since 1972, with Dr. Shepard joining in 1988. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, flying, fishing and bicycling.

On May 21, 1988, he married Cynthia ""Cyndi"" Crisel at First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include four children: Monica Eva Foster (Joshua), of Spartanburg, SC, Carl Swanson (Michelle), of Harrison Township, MI, Michael Richardson, of Fayetteville, AR and Aaron Richardson (Heidi), of Stillwater, OK; six grandchildren, Audrina Swanson, Ashley Swanson, Taylor Swanson, Bowen Richardson, Edwin Richardson and Harper Foster; and three brothers: Mark Richardson (Katherine), John Richardson (Pam), and Timothy Richardson (Debbie), all of Stokesdale, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

His parents, James O. Richardson and Maggie Holleman Richardson preceded Dr. Richardson in death.

The family will receive and visit with relatives and friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Stewart officiating.
