James M. Vert, 73, of Grandin, Mo., died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Vert was born May 8, 1940 in Harviell, Mo., and had retired as a painter for the D.L. Smith Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and building model cars and planes. Mr. Vert was also passionate about horses.
Survivors include his mother, Hazel B. Kirkley Vert, of Poplar Bluff; three children: Tracy Redelman (Tim), of Winamac, Ind., James Anthony Vert, and Tawnya D. Senior (David), of Australia; two sisters: Mary Esther Miller of Poplar Bluff and Dorothy Marie Foster of Gideon, Mo.; two brothers: Charles Leroy Vert, of Wappapello, Mo. and Kenneth Vert, of Fisk, Mo.; and one grandchild, Taylor Redelman.
His father, Charles M. Vert, a brother, John Elbert Vert, and a sister, Annabelle Vert Dwienll preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kinsey Cemetery in Butler County with Chaplain Bill Orr officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to American Cancer Society, 4215 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108.
