James ""Jim"" G. White, 80, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. White was born Oct. 10, 1933 in Bloomington, Ill. to the late Dillard and Inez White. He moved to Poplar Bluff in 1974 and was a retired farmer and an independent truck driver. Mr. White attended Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. He enjoyed spending time with his family, all types of sports, coaching, hunting and fishing.
In 1952, he married Carol Sue Bailey in Heyworth, Ill. She preceded him in death in 2002. In 2003, he married Irene (Leek) Proffer. She preceded him in death in 2011.
Survivors include two children: Jacqueline Elaine Maiben and husband, Steven of Newberg, Oreg. and Michael James White and wife, Carole of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren: Jessamine Whitmore and Breann Jensen; seven great-grandchildren: Jacob Maiben, Derek Maiben, Landry Jensen, Kynzie Whitmore, James Whitmore, and the children of deceased grandson, Shawn, Brenna Morris and Jaxon White; three sisters: Barb Williams of St. Joseph, Ill., Sharon Funk of Bloomington, Ill. and Geraldine Giddings of Abilene, Tex.; and a brother, Jack White also of Bloomington, Ill.
A grandson, Shawn Ryan White and a sister, Roberta Mowbray also preceded Mr. White in death.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Steve Proctor officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
