Jamie L. Buckwheat Downing

Jamie L. ""Buckwheat"" Downing, 54, of the Agee Community in Butler County died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Mr. Downing was born Sept. 3, 1957 in San Diego, Calif. He was of the Protestant faith, and was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. Mr. Downing enjoyed playing pool, riding motorcycles, listening to music and putting together model cars and motorcycles.

Survivors include his daughters, Ashley Downing of Poplar Bluff and Courtney Winchester and husband Michael of Ellsinore; parents, Jack and Jessie (Sinks) Downing of the Agee Community of Butler County; grandson, Michael Winchester; sister, Linda Downing Brown of Jefferson City, Mo.; brothers, Jack ""Buzz"" Downing and wife Debbie of Huntsville, Mo. and Jeff Downing and wife Tina of Williamsville, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Two sisters, Julie Downing Russell and Patricia Gail Downing Ice, preceded Mr. Downing in death.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 12 noon at the Qulin Cemetery off State Hwy N at Qulin, Mo. with Rev. Luther Goins officiating.
