Janet Baird

December 5, 1943 — January 16, 2019

Mrs. Janet Helen Baird (Wilson) died after a long courageous battle with cancer at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center on January 16, 2019 at the age of 75.

Janet was born on December 5th 1943 in St. Louis, MO to Earl and Quetta Wilson. She graduated from Central Missouri State College in 1965 with a BS in Education. She met and married Christopher Walker of Clinton, MO while attending CMSC in 1965. They moved consistently over the next 14 years due to Chris’s military service in the U.S. Army and working for Delta Airlines before settling in Clinton, MO. Chris and Janet raised their sons in Clinton where Janet worked as a high school teacher and volunteered for many different social, church, and local government activities and clubs.

In 1995, she married Pat Baird and moved to Poplar Bluff, MO, where she was a teacher and active participant in many different local activities, clubs, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, tennis, and being with friends and family.

Janet is survived by her two sons: Don C. “Kit” Walker II and wife Lorie, their children Cameron and Dana Leigh of Nashville, TN, and Jason D. Walker and wife Anna, their children Cael, Brody, Natalie and Dash of Virginia Beach, VA. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Earl and Quetta Wilson and her husband, Patrick C. Baird.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 AM on the 9th of February in Poplar Bluff, MO, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father David Coon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
