Janie Elaine White

Janie Elaine White, 60, was granted her angel wings on Wednesday January 16, 2019. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Janie had touched in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.

Janie’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile and crazy attitude brought so much joy to others.

Although the last few months of her life were frail, she gave everyone such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. She loved spending time with what she affectionately called her kids. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her very best friend and partner in crime Dorothy “Dot Dot” Smith. She enjoyed sewing and making gifts for family and friends.

Janie is survived by one brother, Jackson L. Bostic and sister-in-law Tammy K. Bostic. Nieces and nephews, Heather and Kevin Hatch, Gale and Ed “Butch” Mobley, Tom Hays, Joy Hughey, Julie Campbell, Mary Hays and Angie Schmidt. Stepchildren, Dennis White Jr., Hoopy Long, Pete Long, Randy White and Hardy White. She is also survived by a large extended family.

Janie was preceded in death by her husband Dennis R. White, her mother and father, Leroy and Eva L. Bostic, step father, Ralph Bostic, two sisters, Linda Williams and Cathy Bostic and two brothers, Roy E. and Norman Bostic.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at noon. Chaplain William A. Hatch, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
