Jay Doyle Brown, Sr. 82, of Poplar Buff, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Brown, the son of the late Doyle and Reba Parker Brown, was born Oct. 17, 1933 in Cairo, Ill. He was a member of Highland Drive Church of Christ and had retired in 1996 from AT&T as a tower installer over all of southeast Missouri. Mr. Brown proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a Wappapello Bass Master and loved to fish and hunt for turkey and deer.
Survivors include four children: Jay D Brown, Jr. of Poplar Bluff, Nicholas "Nick" (Mary) Brown of Jackson, Mo., Shawn G. Brown of Poplar Bluff and Kimberly (Cole) Carter of Nashville, Tenn.; the mother of his children, Thelma Brown of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren: Noah Carter, Levi Carter, Julia Keusenkothen, Liza Walker, Rebecca Brown, Veronica Stevens and Tabitha Brown; five great-grandchildren: Kael Walker, Kaia Walker, Nick Kensenkothen, Charlotte Kensenkothen and Nathon Stevens.
A brother, Don Brown also preceded him in death.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with a Celebration of Life following at 2 p.m. Vernon Curry will officiate.
