Jeanne Lavern Foster

Jeanne Foster, 89, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016.

Jeanne was born in St. Louis, MO, and moved to Poplar Bluff in 1950 with her husband, Earl, to whom she was married for almost 60 years. He passed away in 2004. Her daughter, Susan Darby also preceded her in death in 2012.

She leaves behind her daughter, Kathy Reich and son-in-law, Bob of St. Louis; son-in-law, Jerry Darby of Malden; four grandchildren: Andrew (Natalie) Reich, Emily
(Ryan) Bury, Jason (Amanda) Darby and Michelle (Scott) Heck. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Jeremiah, Lexie, Naomi, Ava and Rory.

Jeanne was a long time, very active member of the First Baptist Church and had worked as a bookkeeper at the former M&A Electric Power Cooperative for 25 years. She loved to travel and took more than 100 trips, visiting every state except Alaska. She was also an avid bridge player and a wonderful cook. She served as a volunteer at the old Lucy Lee Hospital and along with her husband she was active in the Poplar Bluff Rotary Club. Jeanne enjoyed needlework and crafts and embroidered quilts for each daughter, grandchild and great grandchild. Another great love was floating down Current River in an inner tube. She called that a perfect day.

The visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 15 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
