Jerry Wayne Henderson

Jerry Wayne Henderson, 72, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Jerry, the son of the late Roy and Verna C, (Hill) Henderson, was born Nov. 7, 1943 in Bakersfield, CA and was raised on Current River in Doniphan, MO. He was the owner of Henderson Auto Sales, a family run business in Poplar Bluff for over 35 years, and has been in the car business for 50 years. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family boating on Current River, fishing, hunting, and fishing in Bass tournaments with Vicki, his sons, grandson Kason, and some other very special fishin' buddies including Gary McCauley, Mike Johnson, Dean Sides and Jim Cavaness. He enjoyed taking care of his and Vicki's farm where they spent a great deal of time enjoying their horses and dogs and having their grandchildren and nieces and nephews there.

Jerry married Vicki Gray on July 19, 1972, in Miami, OK. She survives of the home. During their 43 years of marriage, they so very much enjoyed life to the fullest with each other and their family and friends. They enjoyed water sports on Current River and all the surrounding recreational and fishing lakes, traveling, and watching their children grow to have children of their own. Such great happiness they shared.

Other survivors include two sons, Paul Bryan (Sheila) Henderson and Curtis Wayne Henderson (Crystal Spencer) of Poplar Bluff, Paul and Sheila's children, Malarie, Kason and Elle; a brother, Steve Henderson of Poplar Bluff; a half-brother, Roy "Pat" (Norita) Henderson, Jr. of New Haven, Mo.; three sisters: Patricia (Bob) Pulliam and Janice (Linden) Kane all of Doniphan and Teresa Holland (Patrick Kreulen) of Poplar Bluff; a sister-in-law, Jill Allison; a brother-in-law, Johnny Gray; and many beautiful nieces and nephews.

A brother, Charles Sidney Henderson also preceded Jerry in death.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Dewayne Smith officiating. Burial will be at Black Creek Cemetery.
