Jerry Dean Hooper Sr.

Jerry Dean Hooper, Sr., 65, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Hooper, the son of Thomas Franklin and Mary G. Arnold Hooper, was born March 20, 1950 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith and was a retired truck driver. Mr. Hooper proudly served his country with the US Marines and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Metal. He was a CB enthusiast and enjoyed spending time with his family, tinkering with and fixing things and putting model cars together.

Survivors include his children: Jerry D. Hooper, Jr. of St. Louis, Bobby Gene Hooper, Eric Thomas Hooper, Travis Lee Hooper and fiancé, Amber Morris and Sheena Rea Hooper all of Poplar Bluff and Amber Nichole (Ben) Martin of Park Hills, Mo.; eight grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Ann Hooper of Poplar Bluff; two brothers: Thomas Dewayne Hooper of St. Louis and Ronald E. Hooper of Poplar Bluff: and the mother of his children, Deberah Hooper of Poplar Bluff.

His father, Thomas Franklin Hooper and a sister, Janet Louise Hooper preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral chapel with Dr. Steve Proctor officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at noon at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
