Jerry L. Proffer

Jerry L Proffer of Poplar Bluff, MO met his Heavenly Father on June 16, 2018, at the age of 83. He passed away at his home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. His faith and courage were an inspiration to many.

Jerry was born May 11, 1935, to Russell and Inez Proffer in Poplar Bluff, MO. He married his high school sweetheart, Jeanie Aud, 64 years ago who survives of the home.

He was a member of Collins Chapel Church. He served in the National Guard. He was an auto mechanic for many years and retired from the DAR after 30 years.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed building and flying RC airplanes, watching Nascar and Cardinal ball games and he was a big country music fan.

Other survivors include two daughters, Cindy (Bobby) Seawright, Sharon (Mark) Guethle; four grandchildren, Steve (Glenda) Seawright, Stephanie (Keith) Hefner, Shawn (Nicole) Guethle, Christopher (Maddie) Guethle; six great grandchildren, Emily (Clayton) Carpenter, Will, Gabbie, Ben, Norah & Emmett Guethle; two sisters, Margaret Cross & Sue Sells.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Norma Tipton; one son-in-law Keith Sentell; one granddaughter Christina Sentell and one great granddaughter Christina Guethle.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, June 18 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19 in the chapel with Rev. Dennis Aud officiating. A graveside service with full military honors will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 22 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
