Jerry Wayne Shropshire, 72, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at his home.
Jerry was born on November 01, 1952, to Florene Heathcock in McAlester, Oklahoma. He married Mary Paynter on January 09, 1999, at Twin Springs Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Jerry was a talented carpenter and wood worker. He came from a very music-oriented family and loved playing and listening to bluegrass. Jerry not only played instruments, but he could also make them. Jerry had a kind soul but was known to be a little ornery from time to time. He enjoyed making others laugh and smile. Jerry also liked fishing, spending time outdoors, and being with his friends and family; especially at gatherings where there was a guitar being picked and some bluegrass being played.
Jerry is survived by his son, Kyle (Megan) Paynter; daughter, Jennifer (Russel) Shroyer and Katie McCoy, whom he considered a second daughter; sister, Janice (Raymond) Shaver; two brothers, James (Betty) Shropshire and David Yeager; five grandchildren, Amara, Aiden, Wrenna, Bennett Paynter, and Timber Shropshire; nieces, Edtrina Doyle, Mandy Glenn, and Tammy (Michael) Graber; nephews, James, Mike, Arthur, Edmond, Bobby, Jack, and Richard Shropshire; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Florene; son, Kevin Witthar; two brothers, Leon and Arthur "Pete" Shropshire; two sisters, Ruby and Dessie Shropshire.
