Jerry Ronald Webb, 73, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Webb was born Sept. 26, 1937 in White Oak, Mo. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ, and wrote and gave lessons and sermons at other area Churches of Christ. Mr. Webb was also a veteran of the U. S. Air Force having served in Korea. During his working career he served as a police officer in St. Louis and Poplar Bluff, and later had retired as security supervisor for Wal-Mart. Mr. Webb enjoyed his church, spending time with his family and walking his dogs.
On Jan. 11, 1959, he married Peggy Joan Miles in Holcomb, Mo. She preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2011.
Other survivors include 3 sons, Craig A. Webb and wife Jerree of Lexington Park, Md., Anthony R. Webb and wife Jeannie of Cocoa, Fla. and Darren L. Webb and wife Darlene of Poplar Bluff; his mother-in-law, Alice Webb of Poplar Bluff; 7 grandchildren, Joshua Webb and wife Rowena, Matthew Webb, Zachery Webb and wife Isadel, Brian Webb, Michael Webb, Victoria Griffeth and husband Enoch and Darrell L. Webb; 2 great-grandchildren, Aeries Webb and Mariposa Webb; a sister, Karen Webb of Kent, Wash.; and 3 brothers, Howard Webb and wife Bernice of St. Louis, Mo., James Russell Webb of Los Angeles, Calif., and Miles Webb of Minneapolis, Minn.
His parents, Howard and Alcia (Wilson) Webb and a sister, Mary Ellen Smith also preceded Mr. Webb in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Church of Christ with Mr. Vernon Curry officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
