Jessie Elvis Farris

Jessie E. Farris, 87, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday Oct. 18, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Farris, the son of the late Claude and Ella Dillard Farris, was born Sept. 30, 1929 in Caruthersville, Mo. He was of the Church of Christ faith and was a farmer. Mr. Farris enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, cutting wood and fishing.

On June 20, 1953, he married Virginia Lee Bradfield in Caruthersville, Mo. She preceded him in death on Sept. 14, 2016.

Survivors include six children, Steve (Linda) Farris of Warsaw, Ky., Deborah (Marty) Metzger of Austin, Ark., Patricia Farris and Pam (Gaylen) Sanders of Poplar Bluff, Kent (Ruby) Farris of Madison, Ala. and Sherry (Ron) Turley of Concord, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great- great grandchildren; two brothers, Claude L. Farris Jr. of Steele, Mo. and Bill E. Farris of Poplar Bluff.

Two sisters, Opal Baugus and Marie Hackworth also preceded him in death.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The Rev Ken McAnulty will officiate. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
