Jewell (Cooper) Webb

March 25, 1929 — February 2, 2019

Jewell (Cooper) Webb, 89 of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019.

Jewell was born in Poplar Bluff, MO on March 25, 1929. She graduated from Poplar Bluff High School and then moved to St. Louis where she met her husband, Everett Charles Webb. They moved to Anaheim, CA and together had 4 children. A wonderful homemaker and mother, she was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing crafts, and loved to garden and raised amazing vegetables. She delighted in playing Bingo, scrabble and card games with her children and friends. Jewell was a telephone operator for many years and employed with General Telephone in Oxnard, California. The family moved to Rogersville, MO in 1971. Later in life, Jewell became a certified nurses aid and was employed by Oxford Healthcare. She enjoyed caring for others and received many awards for her services. Her clients loved her sense of humor and soft kind way of helping them. She could really be a character with a genuine ability to tell and appreciate good jokes. Some of her own joke creations would evoke a few high brows and mischievous grins.

Jewell is survived by her children, daughters Cynthia Gayle Swensson, Gordonsville, VA, Mary Webb Bransford, Tulsa, OK, Kathleen Smith, Springfield, MO and son, Charles D Webb, Poplar Bluff, MO. Granddaughters, Lauren Swensson, Levenworth ,KS, Eli Jean Gresham, Springfield, MO and grandson Carl (Maja) Swensson of Charlottsville, Va. and great-grandchildren, Layla and Marco. Brothers Jerry (Almeda) Cooper Conyers, GA, Jack (Grace) Cooper, Sarasota, FL, sisters Mable Clendennon, Cape Girardeau, MO, and Barbara Strader, Selma, OR; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Jewell was preceded in death by her husband Everett, parents Elmer and Virgie Cooper of Poplar Bluff, sisters Leona Thomas, Irene Ward, and brothers Clifton Cooper and Wilfred Cooper.

A inurnment will take place 11:30 a.m. Saturday April 6th at Sparkman Cemetery in Butler County, MO. The Rev. Jim Schremp will officiate.
