Joan M Jacobs

Joan M Jacobs, 87, of Patterson, MO, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026, at her secondary home in Poplar Bluff.

Joan was born on November 14, 1938, to Roscoe "Shorty” and Gertrude "Louise" (Lester) York near Doniphan, Missouri. She married William "Bill" D. Jacobs in November 1958 in Poplar Bluff.

Joan was a longtime member of Patterson Baptist Church. Her caring and compassionate nature led her to a career in special education after completing her master’s degree. Joan worked for the Poplar Bluff School District for nearly 50 years before retiring. Joan was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Joan enjoyed reading and even had her own library filled with thousands of books. She enjoyed gathering with her friends to play cards and visit.

Joan is survived by her nephew whom she considered a son, Steven Collins and wife Kay; daughter, Janelle Keith; seven grandchildren; along with several extended family members and friends.

Joan was preceded by her parents; husband, William Jacobs; three sisters, Lucretia, Alberta, and Dorothy.

Joan will be laid to rest next to her husband at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
