Joe Kenny Deaton, 61, of Poplar Bluff died unexpectedly Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Deaton was born May 11, 1948 in Gum Springs, Ark. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, and was employed as a salesman at Blackwell-Baldwin Ford Co. in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Deaton was also a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed basketball, baseball and softball. Mr. Deaton especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as well as fishing.
On Sept. 13, 1968 he married Dianna Coleman in Blytheville, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include his children: Cindy Rexroad and her husband Doyle and Randy Deaton and his wife Naomi all of Poplar Bluff; four grandsons: Jaden, Kyler and Landen Deaton and Keaton Rexroad.
Mr. Deaton was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Cleta (Manning) Deaton, 2 grandchildren, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Sparkman Cemetery in Butler County.
