Joe Howard Peyton, 86, died August 13, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Joe, the son of Otto and Grace (Moore) Peyton, was born October 5, 1931 in Wayne City, Ill. He was of the Baptist faith. Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was an owner and operator of several car dealerships, a owner of Peyton’s Place, a bar restaurant in Springfield, Ill., an operator of a auto auction near St. Louis, Mo, also he raced thoroughbred horses in the 60’s. Joe was a member and past president of the Eagles of Wappapello. He was a man of many talents and never met a stranger and will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his wife, Susan, four sons; Mauri, Charles, Ted and Otto; a daughter, Tena Rednour of Mr. Vernon, Ill., and a brother, Ted Ellis of Bull Shoals, Ark.
A memorial graveside service will be held August 25, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Little Brushy Cemetery in Wappapello for friends and family.
