Joe Leroy Ward Sr.

Joe L. Ward Sr., 82, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away on September 12, 2025, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Joe was born on August 19, 1943, to George W. and Naomi Ward in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Martha (Suzy) F. Hillis in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Joe was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp, serving in Vietnam. He loved hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. He cared deeply for his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Joe is survived by sons, Joe L.Ward, Jr. and Michael A. Ward; grandchildren, Michael A. Ward Jr., Stephanie, and Sara (Ben) Mills; one great granddaughter; sister, Deanna Underwood; and niece, Kimberly (James) Frey.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, George and Naomi; and wife, Suzy Ward.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 am at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, MO. Funeral services will immediately follow beginning at 11:00 with Brother Mike Woodruff officiating. Burial will take place at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
