John William Glenn

John William Glenn, 94, of Poplar Bluff formerly of Greenville died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Glenn was born Nov. 28, 1914 in Blytheville, Ark. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Greenville, and was a member of Greenville Masonic Lodge 107. Mr. Glenn was a retired farmer and cattleman as well as a former Captain with Missouri Water Patrol.
On Dec. 23, 1935 he married Mary Bollinger in Hillsboro. She preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 2004.
Survivors include three nieces: Barbara Hammon of Fulton, Mary Ann Parr of Forsyth and Freda Hawkins of Quincy, Ill.; a nephew, Glen Taylor of Texas; and many friends and acquaintances.
Mr. Glenn was also preceded in death by his parents, Dorsey S. and Elizabeth Marie (Carter) Glenn and sister, Sarah Glenn Hume.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Mattson officiating and the Rev. Charles Buck assisting. Burial will be at Greenville Cemetery
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that Memorial be made to the John W. Glenn Scholarship Fund, c/o Cotrell Funeral Service, P.O. Box 548, Poplar Bluff, Mo. 63902.
