John L. Henson

John L. Henson, Jr., a native and long-time resident of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the home of his son in Defiance, Missouri.

Mr. Henson was born May 7, 1925 in Poplar Bluff to the late John L. Henson, Sr. and Elizabeth Jane (Sparkman) Henson. He worked most of his life in the field of construction and had retired as an engineer with Missouri Pacific Railroad. The last years of his life were spent in retirement in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Henson was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Martha Lucille (Jones) Henson, children Dr. John L. Henson, III, Martha Corbin, Susan Young and Keith W. Henson, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral chapel with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
