John Leroy Larrew, 88, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Larrew was born Sept. 24, 1921 in Harsel, Colo. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff, and had retired from the Tiffany Stand Industry. Mr. Larrew was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served with the 510th Engineer L. Pontoon Co. For his tenure he received 2 Bronze Stars, an Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon, an American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, 3 Overseas Service Bars, a Victory Ribbon and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and traveling.
On Nov. 22, 1950 he married Doris I. Hillis in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughter, Donna M. Rice and husband Rickie L. Rice of Poplar Bluff; special granddaughter, Michele Beth Rice of Poplar Bluff; sister, Ferne Lee, of Sun City, Ariz.; and 5 brothers, Lyle ""Mike"" Larrew and wife Connie of Poplar Bluff, Clyde ""Wes"" Larrew and wife Joyce of Ironton, Don Larrew and wife Bonnie of Bridgeton, Joseph ""Dude"" Larrew of Glendale, Ariz. and Alfred ""Bud"" Larrew and wife Fran of Mountain Home, Ark.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Kneir officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
