John Dale Maddox, 94, of Campbell, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff.
John was born on July 4, 1932, to Eddie and Betty Pearl (Rainwater) Maddox in Clarksville, Arkansas. He was a devoted husband for over 50 years to the late Elwanda Maddox.
John was a member of United States Army and served stateside from July 1953 to June 1955 during the Korean War. He retired from Purolator Automotive in Dexter, Missouri in 1994. He enjoyed planting and growing a large garden so he could share the produce with his friends and family. John was a skilled carpenter and wonderful teacher. He was always finding a remodel project or some sort of home construction job to occupy his time. John was of the Baptist faith.
John is survived by his three daughters, Sharon Parker of Saint Peters, MO, Delores (David) Clark of Metropolis, IL, and Pam Stroud of Malden, MO; three sons, Clark (Violet) Maddox of East Carondelet, IL, Daniel (Mary) Stroud of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Robert Stroud of Wappapello, MO; he is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many friends. John loved his family and friends dearly.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Pearl Maddox; wife, Wanda; two sisters, Pauline Reedy and Claudine Maddox-Nelson; brother, Ronnie Maddox; daughter, Karen Dohack; son, Roy "Buck" Stroud; two grandchildren, James and Jerry Clark.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21st, 2026, from 10:00am - 11:00am at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, MO. Funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Glenn Epps officiating. Burial will take place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
