John Romo

John L. Romo, 79, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on May 29, 1938 to Felipe and Leona (Simpkins) Romo in Alton, IL. He graduated from Alton High School in Alton, IL in 1955. Immediately after high school he enlisted in The United States Navy and served his country for several years until he was honorably discharged. After his military career he worked in a bakery and later for the Baker's Union. He was a member of the Baker's Union #4 for 50 years and the treasurer for 30 of those years until his retirement as an officer.

More than anything his life was about taking care of his family and spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. His family is his living legacy.

John is survived by his daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law, Billy Pennington of Dexter, MO; two grandchildren, Dustin Cook and Alexis Hays; two sisters, Delores Rodriguez of Bonita, CA and Shirley (Jack) HIll of Pearl, IL; Three Brothers, Robert (Lynn) Romo of Mt. Olive, IL, William Romo of Visalia, CA, and Anthony (Barbara) Romo of Santa Clarita, CA;

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Thompson and Phillip Romo; and two sisters, Lupe "Mary" Redman and Rosemary Perez.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff.
Funeral services will be immediately following visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the Moore Funeral Service Chapel, with Brother Bill Pennington officiating. Burial will take place in the Bloomfield Veteran’s Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
