John Earl South, 77, of Poplar Bluff, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mr. South was born April 9, 1935 in Kennett, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith, and had retired as an auto mechanic. Mr. South enjoyed raising beagles, hunting, gardening and fishing.
On March 7, 1956, he married Wilma Faye Kendrick in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Joseph South of Venice, Fla., Chris South of Rock Hill, SC, and Jeffery South of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Patton and Peggy Wright, both of St. Louis, Mo. and Berdean Ridge of Lake City, Ark.; and two brothers, Max South of St. Louis, Mo., and Joe Wayne South of Flushing, Mich.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. A graveside service and burial will follow at 2:45 p.m. Saturday in the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Rev. Buck Cruse officiating.
